3️⃣How to Set Up Indicator Alerts

What is an Indicator Alert?

An indicator alert is a powerful feature within TradingView that will trigger notifications when specific market conditions or certain criteria are met. Once you've set up an alert, you can choose to receive notifications via email, SMS, or push notification through the TradingView mobile app when a signal of your choice has printed a signal. This enables you to stay on top of your trading strategy even when you're away from your computer or mobile device.

Although enabling an indicator alert is not required in order to use the indicator, they can be an incredibly valuable tool for traders of all levels, as they can help you identify key market opportunities and take action quickly and efficiently.

How to Create an Alert for Algo Elixir

To begin, open your TradingView chart for the pair you wish to analyze. Make sure to select the desire timeframe for receiving alerts.

IMPORTANT: Double check and confirm you are on the correct time frame before setting up an alert. This is because the alerts are based on the signals of the selected time frame, and different time frames may produce different signals. To ensure that you receive accurate and relevant notifications, make sure you have selected the desired time frame before creating an alert.

Select Alert at the top of your TradingView chart.

Alternatively, you can hover over the indicator of your choice, where you would like to create an alert, click the 3 dots, and select "Add alert on Algo Elixir" (Both ways will get you to the same alert setup).

You can also type on your keyboard alt+a or option+a for mac users to access alerts.

Change the Condition field and select "Algo Elixir". In TradingView, a condition refers to a specific set of criteria that you can set for an alert to trigger. In this case, we are selecting "Algo Elixir" as this is the indicator that will be used to trigger the alert.

Go to the dropdown list of condition alerts for that indicator by selecting the dropdown arrow to the right of "Any alert() function call". For instance, if you select the "Algo Elixir" indicator, you will see four different alerts that can be set depending on the signal you choose. Make sure to choose the appropriate signal for the alert you want to set up.

Select a specific signal that you want the alert to be set up for. It is important to note that if you want alerts for the Alternate signals, you should select either "Buy Alternate Signal" or "Sell Alternate Signal". On the other hand, if you want alerts for the Trend signals, you should select either "Buy Trend Signal" or "Sell Trend Signal". Remember that you can only set up alerts for one signal at a time. So, if you want both a buy and a sell alert for alternate signals, you will need to set up an alert for the buy signal and then repeat the same process to set up a sell alert.

After you select a Signal, Select "Once Per Bar Close" for the Alert Trigger.

It's very important that you select "Once Per Bar Close" when setting up the alert to ensure that you receive the most accurate signal from our algorithm that stays on the chart. Failing to select this option may result in receiving inaccurate notifications from false signals that may not stay on the chart. It's important to note that our indicator signals are non-repainting, which means that once they're printed on the chart, they won't change according to new market conditions. To avoid receiving multiple alerts before the candle closes, please set your alert to trigger once per bar close.

Make sure to add a name in the "Alert name" section. This can be labeled as any name, depending on your pair and what kind of signal. Choose a name that makes sense to you and helps you quickly identify the alert when it goes off. In the "Message" section, each indicator alert by default will contain a pre-set messages that you can customize as needed. You have the flexibility to remove or modify these messages according to your preferences. Additionally, you can opt for special placeholders within the curly brackets, which TradingView has a comprehensive syntax for. These placeholders enable you to personalize the alert message with dynamic and relevant information, further enhancing the effectiveness of the alert.

To modify the notification settings for this alert, simply navigate to the "Notifications" tab located at the top and select your preferred options by checking the corresponding checkboxes.

Once you're satisfied with your alert settings, click on the "Create" button to activate the alert.

Warning Alert

If you ever encounter a warning message while setting up an alert, don't panic. It's important to understand that some indicators may have internal Pinescript functions that can lead to repainting behavior when configured in a specific way.

However, the alerts provided by the Algo Elixir indicators do not repaint. If you see this warning message, you can safely click on "continue" to proceed with the alert setup.

Managing Alerts

To access your alerts, select the alarm clock icon on the right side panel and select the specific alert you want to manage. From there you can either pause, stop, or configure you're alert.

It is important to note that if one of the indicator settings is changed after the alert is created, then the alert will be triggered using the old settings.

To update an alert, access your alerts manager and click on the edit (gear icon). From the Condition section, choose the second indicator with the same name as the one used to create the original alert. Once you've made the necessary changes, click on save to update the alert.

The best solution is to completely delete the alert and redo the alert, as changes can have an effect on setting off the alert, if not adjusted properly.
